Tolan to fight George Hillyard

Tough Test For Hillyard, Faces Tolan on August 2nd

PRESS RELEASE

Promoter Shyam Batra today confirmed today that George ‘Hit Hard’ Hillyard versus Tommy ‘The Tiger’ Tolan will be the main support feature bout for the headlining, Baz Rehman sponsored, Mark Prince-Jiri Svacina MBC International title clash, on his upcoming CALL OF DUTY event at York Hall, in Bethnal Green, London on Saturday 2nd August 2014.

Hillyard, who turned pro in 2005 and successfully campaigned under Barry Hearn’s Matchroom Sport banner until 2010, made his long awaited return to the fray in March, following a four year sabbatical from the sport.

For his return fight Hillyard took on Kirill Psonko, in what turned out to be a thrilling all action Battle Royale, albeit with an unexpected twist to the tale.

Hillyard virtually dominated the battle from start to finish, securing the first five rounds and controlling the big Lithuanian for the majority of the final round.

Then in the dying moments of the final round the unbelievable happened, Kirill lands a peach of a right that sent Hillyard to the canvas, he made the count but at the restart Kirill let rip with a barrage of big right hands at the still dazed East Londoner, leaving referee Ken Curtis no option but to stop the bout with just five seconds remaining on the clock.

Hillyard’s opponent on August 2nd, Tommy Tolan, is anything but an easy option, the tough Irishman has been in with some of the best domestic boxers around, the likes of Liverpool’s Smith brothers, former WBA International and British Champion Paul and WBC International Champion Callum, British, Commonwealth and WBA Inter-Continental Champion Rocky Fielding, Commonwealth Gold Medalist Callum Johnson, British, Commonwealth and WBO International Champion Billy Joe Saunders amongst others.

The type of opponents Tolan has been in battle with in the past isn’t lost on Hillyard, as he made clear yesterday, when he spoke following the filming of a promo for the CALL OF DUTY event at Buckingham Palace.

“Yeah so what, he’s mixed it up with many of the the top names, now he’s going to see just how good I am. I’m really looking forward to this, I’m going show everyone that Georgie is back and showcase my talent.

“Everyone says they have had a good camp, but I have, it’s been perfect, my weight is right down, in fact my trousers are falling off as we speak. It’s been brilliant and I’ve been listening this time, I know it’s taken me a long time to do it but I’m listening this time and doing it properly.

“No shouting my mouth off this time, I’m focused on the fight and this time no mistakes, no short cuts, just going to do my job.

“I have to thank the fans for their support, I have fantastic support and I can’t thank them enough for turning out for me every time I’m fighting, may that continue.”

George ‘Hit Hard’ Hillyard vs Tommy ‘The Tiger’ Tolan features as main support to the Baz Rehman sponsored Mark Prince – Jiri Svacina MBC International Cruiserweight Title Clash, that headlines the Shyam Batra SSE Promoted CALL OF DUTY event at York Hall in Bethnal Green, London on Saturday 2nd August 2014.

Tickets, priced £35 (standard) and £60 (Ringside) are available direct from George Hillyard on 07985 301699 or any of the boxers taking part, on-line at www.tkoboxoffice.com or call the TKO Box Office ticket line on 07960 850645
