Taylor plans to out do Jeward in Baku
KATIE Taylor hopes to do better than Jeward in the Crystal Hall Stadium when she competes in the inaugural European Games this Summer.
Taylor hopes to continue her dominance of Female boxing and add another medal to her glittering collection when trades leather at the same venue Jeward represented Ireland in the Eurovision.
“I think in years to come this competition is going to be one of the most important for European athletes, next to the Olympic Games,” Taylor told RTE. “It’s such an exciting tournament to be involved in.”
“The atmosphere is going to be electric in the stadium. I think the stadium is the Crystal Hall where the Eurovision was; I hope we do better than the song.”
The multiple European adn World champion goes into the Baku hosted June tournament with the favourite tag that is permanently attached to her boxing vest, but claims she relishes the challenge that brings.
“I love being the favourite, of every competition,” she said. “I’m the one that everyone is trying to beat. I’m in a privileged position, but I still feel like the best is yet to come, and people still haven’t seen the best of me yet, and that is so exciting for me.”
