Sean Higginson handed new debut date

Following the postponement of the card on which he was set to debut next month, Sean Higginson has been handed a new first fight date.

Now, rather than box in Manchester, the Belfast featherweight will make his pro bow in his home city.

Higginson was due to debut against Jamie Quinn on Friday April 14th at the Bowlers Exhibition Centre on the Kieran Farrell Promotions ‘Young Kings’ show. This card was postponed to Saturday May 27th yesterday, but the Breen Team fighter was quickly handed a new date closer to home.

The former top amateur will now box on the inaugural Kieran Farrell Belfast show – ‘A New Era‘ – at the Devenish Complex on Saturday April 22nd.

The move for Higginson is a welcome one, allowing the former St John Bosco fighter to begin his paid career within minutes of his front door, and allowing his family, friends, and supporters to attend without having to travel far.

The card is co-headlined by an eight round fight between Tyrone’s Feargal McCrory and Liverpudlian Jay Carney, as well as a return to the ring for Mike Perez. In addition there are also slots Joe Fitzpatrick, Mark Morris, Dan McShane, Sean McGlinchey, Sean Magee, Mathew Fitzsimons, Ger Healy, and Ronnie Clark.
