Quillin: I can’t win the title but I still plan to win the fight

PETER Quillin has apologised to Andy Lee and his fans for not making weight ahead of his purposed WBO World title challenge set for New York Saturday night.

‘Kid Chocolate’ came to the scales a pound and a half over the 160lbs limit and was given two hours to cut down, but could only get to within six ounces of the weight.

The mouth watering clash still goes ahead, but WBO rules state the middleweight strap will not be up for grabs tomorrow night.

Quillin, however is still keen to defeat the reigning champion and took to Twitter to reveal ‘good performance’ ambition.

“What can I say? I didn’t make weight. I want to apologize to Andy Lee and to all my supporters and fans. I made every effort to make weight but it just wasn’t meant to be and I have no one else to blame but myself.

“I may not win a title tomorrow but I still have a fight to win and I still plan to put on a good performance. I promised to use this as a learning experience for the future. God bless.”
