‘Proper Champion’ Burnett happy to go into the Lion’s Den
Ryan Burnett is happy to travel to Liverpool to take on Scouser Ryan Farrag.
The Belfast bantamweight faces recent European champ Farrag at the Echo Arena on the Tony Bellew-BJ Flores undercard on October 15th.
Burnett may be the British champion, but he has no qualms defending his belt in hostile territory. Indeed it is something that he views as a learning experience
Burnett believes that “fighting in someone else’s backyard is one of those bridges that you have to cross at different points in your career.”
“I’m going into the Lion’s den and putting my belt on the line, you have to do these things to prove that you are a proper champion.”
The 24 year old echoes the thoughts of promoter Eddie Hearn in terms of challenging opponents, and notes how “the build-up is going to be great and I think that someone like Ryan will bring the best out of me and I will perform well against him because he’s a very good fighter.”
“I’m really excited to finally be defending my British title and in a fight that the British fight fans are really going to get behind.”
