Nevin injured after assault this morning
Recent pro debutant John Joe Nevin has suffered broken leg after he was attacked in his home town this morning, according to reports today.
It’s believed the talented prospect suffered serious but non life threatening injuries after a group of men attacked him in Mulingar around 10:30 this morning.
The Olympic medal winner was taken to the Midland Regional Hospital in Mullingar, but was expected to be transferred to Tullamore hospital which has a specialised orthopedic unit.
The 25-year-old former amateur stand out has just recently turned professional and made his debut as a pro in a super featherweight bout on St Patrick’s Day against Alberto Candelaria, winning by a unanimous decision.
Nevin had hoped to fight a number of times between now and the end of the year, but looks likely to be out of the ring for sometime.
