Paul Hyland Jr given tough final Czech-up at Ulster Hall before return to domestic titles

Paul Hyland Jnr [19(7)-1(1)] has been given a good test to kick off 2019 as he builds towards a second shot at domestic honours.

The Lagmore lightweight features on the MHD Promotions ‘A Night To Remember’ show at the Ulster Hall on Saturday February 9th in his second fight back since his British title loss to Lewis Ritson in June..

One of the chief support bouts on the night, it has been confirmed that Hyland will face tough Czech Miroslav Serban [10(5)-1(0)] before returning to domestic dust-ups.

‘The Lumberjack’ was a top kickboxer and also enjoyed a strong amateur career, representing his country at European and World Championships as well as Olympic qualifiers.

In the vest, Serban holds a win over future world title challenger Anthony Yigit while Josh Taylor ended his London 2012 hopes.

Turning pro in 2016, Serban has racked up a 10-1 record, claiming the Czech light welterweight title in his most recent fight last December as well as a UBO trinket versus Frenchman Bryan Boussis the month before.

The 27-year-old’s sole loss came up at welterweight where he was outpointed by Hungarian Gabor Gorbics – who Irish fans will remeber for his game showing aginst Spike O’Sullivan in Mayo earlier this month.

“When I offered the exciting contest to Hylo he jumped at the chance,” said promoter and manager Mark Dunlop.

“He is looking to charge at the British or Commonwealth titles is 2019 and knows there is no room for error at the iconic venue.”

Serban is the first opponent confirmed for the bill which is headlined by James Tennyson who returns from his IBF super featherweight world title defeat to Tevin Farmer in a Commonwealth title defnece.

The ‘A Night To Remember’ card also features undercard support from Tommy McCarthy, Feargal McCrory, Luke Wilton, Mathew Fitzsimons, and Cathy McAleer.
