Kieran Farrell returns to the Devenish Complex on the Finaghy Road for another edition of his own brand of ‘small hall’ action.
With a title fight announced to headline the bill last night, attention turns now to the undercard and two of the away fighters are currently officially confirmed.
As he steps up his level of activity and opposition before a big fight at the end of the year, Dubliner Sean Creagh will take on Hungarian light middleweight Istvan Dernanecz [10(7)-6(4)].
The 19 year old is an honest come-forward pressure fighter with a decent record in his home country. On his travels Dernanecz is usually stopped, albeit against campaigners more experienced than Creagh. Indeed next Friday could turn out to be a bit of a war – with the Magyar youngster looking to engage in shoot-outs rather than retreating into his shell.
Creagh [6(2)-1(1)] will be back down around welterweight for this clash following a brief foray at middleweight for a short notice fight earlier this month.
Then Belfast lightweight Mark Morris will take on journeyman Jamie Quinn [3(0)-45(1)-2].
Farrell is eager to draw comparisons, with the Stockport man having scored an upset victory over Allan Phelan during the Summer. Other Irish boxers who have fought Quinn include Sean Higginson, who outpointed him over four in April, and Anto Cacace – who is the only man to ever stop the ultra-durable Englishman.
Morris [3(1)-0] made his return to the ring in April following over two years out.
The card next week also features Alfredo Meli,Dylan Moran, and Mathew Fitzsimons.
Tickets cost £25 (standing), £35 (seated), and £55 (ringside), and are available from the boxers involved.
