Belfast headline fight upgraded

The headline fight for the show in Belfast next Friday night has been upgraded.

Following the withdrawal of Sean McGlinchey due to illness from his Celtic Nations middleweight title fight with Ger Healy, Pádraig McCrory‘s early step up against South African Jade Karam was bumped into the headline slot.

Tonight the six-rounder has also been upgraded to an eight, and the Celtic Nations super middleweight belt will be on the line next week.

Karam [9(4)-4(2)-2], originally from Johannesburg, moved to Ireland earlier this year and has been living in Cork.

Licenced by the Boxing Union of Ireland, the experienced former Gauteng State champion is coming to win on Saturday.

For McCrory [1(0)-0] it’s a big jump from four to eight rounds in just his second fight.

The St James fighter debuted in June at the SSE Odyssey Arena on the Haskins-Burnett bill, but saw two subsequent fight dates fall through.

Keen to progress quickly, ‘The Hammer’ has jumped at this opportunity.

The card next week also features Alfredo Meli, Mark Morris, Dylan Moran, Mathew Fitzsimons, and Sean Creagh.

Tickets cost £25 (standing), £35 (seated), and £55 (ringside), and are available from the boxers involved.
