Opponent confirmed for Mick Conlan’s second pro fight
The opponent has been confirmed for Mick Conlan‘s second pro fight later this month.
The Belfast super bantamweight tops another UniMas-televised Top Rank card on Friday May 26th at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago, Illinois
His opponent here will be Mexican Alfredo Chanez [4(2)-4(0)]. The Tijuana fighter will step up two weight divisions for the six-round bout, having last competed at super flyweight back in October of last year. This split decision loss to Alonso Ronquillo Nunez was his only fight of the year, and before this Chanez had campaigned as low as light flyweight.
Chanez, nicknamed ‘Chino,’ is a compact aggressive fighter, however would appear to be a slight step down from debut opponent, and former capable amateur, Tim Ibarra – whom Conlan stopped in the third round of their clash at The Theater at Madison Square Garden.
Regardless, Chanez will provide Conlan [1(1)-0] will his first experience of a pro contest against a grizzled Mexican, something which the LA-based Irishman will become accustomed to in the coming years
