New Clash of the Clans opponent for Stephen Ormond

Dublin’s Stephen Ormond will warm-up next weekend on home turf at the National Stadium ahead of his massive Stateside fight on St Patrick’s Weekend.

Ormond was initially pencilled in to face Latvia’s Ivan Levickis [22(15)-21(10)], a former foe of Paul Hyland Jr and Daniel McShane, but the Clondalkin man will now instead face another fighter with Irish previous.

‘The Rock’ is now scheduled to fight Poland’s Lukasz Janik [15(9)-16(4)-1] over six rounds on February 6th. Irish fans may remember the 27 year old welterweight from last December when he climbed off the canvas to bring Phil Sutcliffe Jr the distance in a six round bout in Blackpool.

Janik has also fought former European bantamweight champion Stephan Jamoye, as well as welterweight World title challenger Jo Jo Dan.

The fight is expected to be a routine win for the World title-challenger who will hope blow off the cobwebs before jumping into big fights as he chases belts across the Atlantic.

Stephen Ormond v Lukasz Janik features as part of MGMs ‘Clash of the Clans’ show next Saturday night at the National Stadium and exclusively live on Boxnation TV. The packed card also includes Jamie Kavanagh, Gary Corcoran, Phil Sutcliffe Jr, Declan Geraghty, Pajo Hyland, Craig O’Brien, Sean Creagh, Gary Sweeney, and Anto Fitzgerald.

Tickets can be bought from the boxers involved or from HERE.
