Murray set for Italian job

28 August 2009 – By Cormac Campbell

EU lightweight champion Andy Murray looks set to square off against Italys Pasquale Di Silvio at the O2 Arena on September 26.

The contest, which is listed on the EBUs website as a voluntary defence, will see the unbeaten Cavan stylist elevated to chief support status as he continues to stake a claim for a shot at the EBU title proper.

Roman fighter Di Silvo, who comes in to the contest with a record of 10-1, (4KO) unsuccessfully challenged Simone Califano for the Italian crown in February of this year, losing via third round KO. This was a turnaround from their February 2008 contest in the Italian Lightweight Cup Final, which Di Silvo won on points.
