Murphy – Gaynor title fight made for the Europa

Colm Murphy [5(1)-0] will defend his BUI Celtic featherweight title against Liam Gaynor [9-1].

Mark Dunlop has confirmed MHD will promote one of the more intriguing domestic title fights in recent times at the Europa Hotel on November 26.

It’s a fight Bolton based Dub Gaynor mentioned first when talking to Irish-boxing.com. Gaynor not only said he’d like the winner of Murphy and managerial stablemate Ruadhan Farrell’s ‘Return of the Mick’ clash, he said he would have too much for whoever claimed the title.

‘Posh Boy’ took note and told the Tallaght man via Irish-boxing.com to get in touch if he wanted to get it on. It appears he did just that as the fight has been made and will take place in Belfast later this year.

Murphy had the perfect pro debut year fighting five times and crowning it off with a domestic title victory in September. The Dee Walsh trained fighter, who is noted for his engine and ability to entertain, steps it up a notch as he begins year two, topping a bill against Gaynor in what will prove an extremely eagerly anticipated bout.

Gaynor, 24, has been around since 2017, but has previously suffered from periods of inactivity. The Kilnamnagh native has managed to get busy over the last 12 months and gets rewards for four consecutive wins in the form of a winter title fight.
