Michael Kelly to return to ring for title fight this weekend

Michael Kelly [8(6)-6(2)-1] will make a return to the ring after two years out this weekend in Scotland. The 40 year old Dundalk man will fight Glasgow’s former Commonwealth champion Craig Docherty [26(10)-7(4)-1]for the vacant World Boxing Union’s super welterweight world title at the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley on Saturday.

Kelly, a former World Military Games champion, is jumping up the weights after a career spent in and around the lightweight limit where he shared the ring with top boxers such as Frankie Gavin, Marco McCullough, and Bradley Saunders.

‘The Comeback’ WBU title fight will top the five-fight Malta Boxing Comminsion card which also features former Andy Lee foe, Craig McEwan.
