McMahon confident ahead of world title fight with Ramadan

CHRISTINA Mcmahon is ready to become Irish pro boxing’s Katie Taylor.

The undefeated bantamweight puncher has signed to fight three time world Champion Susie Ramadan on April 26 and is ready to become Ireland’s first professional female World champion.

It is a massive jump up in class for the popular and likeable Monaghan fighter, but McMahon is in confident mood ahead of a fight with 24 fight veteran.

Indeed, the former kickboxing standout has always believed a world title fight was always in her career path.

“We believed this was the road we were on and that a world title was possible, some might have doubted it, but I stuck on that road and we are here now. I don’t think people will get behind me and the fight till it happens and then it will be another Katie Taylor and people will jump on the bandwagon,”  the 39 year old told Irish-boxing.com.

“I confident but I am not taking it lightly. I am in a full time training camp to get ready for it. I know her well she is a big name in womens boxing. She has won three world titles the only fight she lost was an IBF title fight in Mexico. I don’t mind traveling and we are challenging her so it has to be expected. I feel everyone is beatable it will be a great fight.”

There has been some talk that Ramadan has elected against fighting McMahon and is trying to secure a different opponent. However, McMahon’s manager Frick McMahon is adamant the contract is signed and the fight will go ahead.

“As far as we are concerned we have signed the contract to fight for the World title on April 26 and we are getting ready for that now.”
