Matchroom confirm Katie Taylor deal and second fight date
Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Promotions have this morning confirmed that Irish boxing legend Katie Taylor has signed a contact with the British promotional giant – and that she will have a busy start to life as a pro.
As previously broken by Kevin Byrne, the Wicklow woman will make her debut on the Saturday November 26th card at the Wembley Arena. Also scheduled for this card is a match-up between Tommy Coyle and John Wayn Hibbert, as well as appearances from Ohara Davies, Reece Bellotti, Ben Hall, Martin J Ward, Ted Cheeseman, Craig Richards, Danny Dignum, Felix Cash, Jake Ball, Jack Healy, and Conor Benn.
It has also been confirmed that the nineteen-time major medal winner will have two fights in a fortnight to kick of her pro career. The Bray star has also been announced to appear on the huge Anthony Joshua PPV undercard at the Manchester Arena on Saturday Decemeber 10th. Here Joshua, Taylor’s fellow London 2012 gold medalist, will defend his IBF heavyweight World title against an opponent believed to be Eric Molina, while Carl Frampton foe Scott Quigg will return to the ring for the first time since his jaw-breaking loss to The Jackal.
Taylor becomes Ireland’s third current pro fighter alongside Lynn Harvey, who boxes former Taylor opponent Mary Romero on the November 5th Red Corner show, and Christina McMahon, who challenges for Linda Laura Lecca’s WBA super flyweight title on the December 3rd FS Promotions show.
