Macklin’s comeback opponent confirmed

FERENC Albert will provide the opposition for Matthew Macklin in Birmingham this weekend.

‘Mack The Knife’ returns to the ring after a disappointing stoppage reverse to Jorge Heiland in Dublin last November hoping to prove he still has what it takes to cut it at the top level.

The Birmingham born Irish middleweight considered hanging up his gloves after defeat in a bout billed as a World title eliminator, but has elected to give it one more go. Macklin, who believes his display against Heiland was due to a mammoth year of training rather than any sell by date passing, still holds World title ambitions and has targeted clashes with Andy Lee and Danny Jacobs.

First he must overcome Hungarian Albert on Saturday night. Indeed Macklin will most likely have to look impressive against the 22 year old to prove all doubters wrong.
