Lee: I will find the punch to stop Suanders before round five ends
ANDY Lee says he will figure out Billy Joe Saunders and find the punch to take him out before the bell to end round five rings when the pair meet in Thomond Park in September.
The WBO middleweight champion of the World respects the English middleweight, but claims anything the Frank Warren puncher can do he can do better.
Speaking about the eagerly anticipated World title fight in his Boxing News column the Limerick man said Saunders is skillful and hungry, but just hasn’t got the class to match him in the squared circle.
“Billy Joe Saunders is very talented, highly skilled, but fiercely competitive as well. I was impressed that, against Chris Eubank Jnr, he went straight to work, he didn’t allow Eubank to settle and that showed his experience.
“It was always going to be tough down the stretch because Eubank is so well-conditioned. Saunders’ biggest strength is his hunger, that personal pride, he can’t allow himself to be beaten. But that will only take you so far. I’m the better fighter all-round. Everything he can do I can do to a better standard and I also have the power. He might win one or two early rounds but by the fourth or fifth, I’ll find the punch to end the fight.”
