Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano’s Impressive Garden Gate

Katie Taylor’s massive undisputed lightweight world title fight with Amanda Serrano did over €1 million at the gate.

The ‘greatest female fight of all time’ pulled in the highest gate at the New York venue since the pandemic, grossing $1,450,180.60 (€1,363,090.65) in ticket sales report Boxing Scene.

It’s another notch in the historic event and trailblazer Taylor’s belt following on from the news the first ever women’s fight to top a bill at the iconic venue did record streaming numbers on DAZN.

The pound for pound stars attracted a sellout crowd of 19,197 and a global streaming audience of 1.5m people.

Speaking to Jake Donovan of Boxing Scene Joel Fisher, executive vice-president of marquee events for MSG said: “April 30th was a shining moment for women’s boxing and an historic night at MSG. In front of a sold-out Garden crowd Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano delivered what many consider to be the fight of the year.”

Those ticket sale figures could be smashed if Matchroom go ahead with plans to promote Taylor in Dublin.

Representatives from the Eddie Hearn bossed company have met with the GAA and Croke Park re a late September or early October Taylor topped event.

Serrano would be the first choice of opponent if that fight night got the go ahead although Holly Holm is the new away corner favourite, particularly after the Puerto Rican suggested she would fight in August.
