Katie Taylor delighted to be offered spot on Lee v Saunders undercard

KATIE Taylor says it would be unbeLEEiveable to fight on the undercard of the massive World title fight set for Thomond Park this September.

Former Olympian Andy Lee will put his WBO middleweight title on the line against Billy Joe Saunders at the home of Munster Rugby in a massive homecoming clash and the boxing phenom says it would be ‘phenomenal’ to be involved.

Speaking after Taylor arrived home from winning European lightweight Games gold and her eighteenth major tournament top of the podium finish her father and coach Pete Taylor confirmed an offer to appear on the massive event was being considered.

“We’ve been asked to box on the Lee card, we’ll speak to them.”

And Katie Taylor is certainly excited by the prospect.

“It would be phenomenal if that could happen,” the 28-year-old told Mirror Sport after arriving back in Dublin yesterday.

“It would be such a privilege, especially with the fight in Limerick and with it being a world title bout.

“It’s great to be boxing in front of your home crowd – and there will be a massive crowd at Thomond Park.”
