Joe Ward’s World Championships FINAL – What time and where can I watch it?

Joe Ward goes for gold tonight in Germany.

The Moate light heavyweight and Irish team captain has reached his second successive World Championships final and he will once again face Cuban maestro and amateur pound-for-pound number one Julio Cesar La Cruz.

La Cruz is going for his fourth World gold in a row, and defeated Ward in the 2015 final and the 2013 semi finals. The Caribbean boxer defeated Ward’s Olympic conqueror, Ecuadorian Carlos Mina, in yesterday’s semi. Ward defeated Uzbek tank Bektemir Melikuziev in the corresponding fixture.

The finals tonight in Hamburg begin at 5:00pm (Irish Time). Ward v La Cruz is the eighth fight on the running order. Any other day in the tournament and this would translate to a start-time of 6:45pm. However, as it is finals day, medal presentations and anthems are expected, meaning it could be closer to 7:20/7:30 before Ward steps into the ring.

In terms of watching the fight, the video streams are unable to be embedded onto this page, but below are links to the numerous streams that will be available.

The official Olympics television website is the stream featured on the AIBA website.

The official website for the championships also provide an identical stream – however we have found it to be more reliable than the Olympic stream.

If you are living up North or in Britain, you will be able to watch the fight live on your television via the BBC Red Button.

Again, if up North or in Britain (or if you have a VPN installed), you can watch the fight live via the BBC Sport website.
