Jason Quigley receives World Rankings boost

Donegal middleweight Jason Quigley [13(10)-0] is now ranked with two of the four major world governing bodies following his career-best win last month.

The Golden Boy starlet scored a gritty win over Glen Tapia in California, winning a ten-round points decision.

Quigley suffered a “one in ten million” hand injury early on in the fight and was forced to battle his way through the pain to claim the win and the NABF title.

As the NABF is an affiliated member of the WBC, Quigley has this month been installed at #15 in the organisation’s rankings, joining the #10-ranked Andy Lee [35(24)-3(2)-1].

It’s a second major ranking for Quigley who now sits at #10 with the WBA, having entered their ladder following his win over James De La Rosa last year.

Kazakh king Gennady Golovkin is the current champion with both bodies.

Quigley is currently recovering from surgery to repair his hand injury – a broken bone and a detached tendon – and will be looking to continue climbing the ranks as soon as possible.
