Jackal fan Prince Naz calls Frampton v Santa Cruz

The Prince has backed Carl Frampton to become a featherweight king on July 30th.

Naseem Hamed knows what it takes to jump up to 126lbs to challenge for a World title and to fight in New York having done both successfully when he defeated Steve Robinson to win the WBO strap and retained it against Kevin Kelley in Madison Square Garden two years later.

The former Brendan Ingle-trained puncher and Wayne McCullough opponent believes Carl Frampton can emulate both his successes on the same night when the former super bantamweight unified champ challenges Leo Santa Cruz for his WBA featherweight title in the Barclays Center on Saturday.

“Carl is a great fighter and I knew he would have too much for Scott Quigg in his last fight,” Hamed told Sky Sports.

“I remember when I fought against Kevin Kelley at Madison Square Garden. I was just a kid from Sheffield and it was amazing to see my name up in lights like that.”

“I think Carl is more than capable of handling the occasion and even though he is stepping up from super bantamweight to featherweight I have every confidence he can get the job done against Santa Cruz.”
