Carl Frampton versus Leo Santa Cruz will be a phenomenal clash that will undoubtedly be nominated for Fight of the Year claims Irish fight legend Barry McGuigan.
The former custodian of the WBA featherweight title Frampton hopes to take from Santa Cruz in New York on Saturday night couldn’t contain his excitement when discussing the Barclay’s Center-hosted, Showtime-broadcast bout.
McGuigan, who was respected pundit after post his fighting days and before his promoting and managing days, believes the fight will explode into action early and stresses that it will be impossible for the World title fight to be anything but exciting.
Speaking in America the Hall of Famer said,
“This is a can’t miss fight. It can’t be a bad fight, no matter how you look at it.”
“It’s going to be an exciting fight. It might start off tepid, but it’s going to develop into a phenomenal fight. The mesh of styles is going to make this a Fight of the Year candidate.”
While he hyped the fight and was genuinely excited by the prospect of a classic encounter the Clones Cyclone was keen to stress what is most important, victory for his charge.
“What’s important is winning on Saturday night. We put so much time and commitment to this game. You don’t want to do all that work and lose.”
“Getting the win is vital.”
