Carl Frampton spurred on by Jackal Army – I won’t let them down
Carl Frampton has promised his 1,200 travelling fans, as well as all his American-based followers, that he will give them something to cheer about tonight at the Barclays Centre.
Live from New York on Saturday night, ‘The Jackal’ pledged that he will put in a career-best performance and take the WBA featherweight crown for three-division champ Leo Santa Cruz.
Speaking yesterday after the electric weigh-in at the Barclays Resort & Casino, the Belfast underdog connfidently declared that “the belt is coming home with me.”
Explaining his confidence, the 29 year old described how “I am feeling stronger at this weight and I have made the weight easily for this fight.”
“I have been struggling for 18 months to get to the super bantamweight weight limit.”
“I feel great for this fight and I will win this fight and do what I have to do to get my hands on the title.”
“I am ready to deliver and this is the freshest and strongest I have felt for a fight in a long time. I just can’t wait to get started.”
A grateful Frampton paid credit to his frenzied support who travelled to the Big Apple in their droves and declared that “I am not going to let them down.”
“They have paid good money to get here,”
