Ireland to take on France in National Stadium this month

European powerhouses Ireland and France will clash at the National Stadium in Dublin later this month. The Boys in Green meet Les Bleus at the home of Irish boxing on Friday, November 28th.

France have named Christian M’billi-Assomo in a side packed with National Elite Champions.

M’billi-Assomo lost out on a split decision to Rachid Hamani in the French National at Fontenay-sous-Bois in February, but bounced back to win Chemistry Cup gold in Germany in May. Joe Ward and David Oliver Joyce, who will attend the upcoming international, won double Chemistry Cup gold on the same day.

Olympic bronze medallists Paddy Barnes and Michael Conlan are expected to line out for Ireland along with an elite team of Irish Olympic hopefuls. Irish head coach Billy Walsh believes that France will provide formidable opposition at the South Circular Road venue.

“It’s a strong French team. We fought a couple of them at the European Union Championships in Sofia this year and they had a very good tournament. We’re looking forward to what will be a very exciting international with France which will have people on the edge of their seats.

“We’ve had some great battles with France down through the years. This is a new emerging French team and, as they proved at the European Union Championships, they are starting to come good again as we head into the qualifiers for the Rio Olympics.”

Tickets for the November 28th International are competitively priced at €10 for Adults and €5 for children under 14 years of age. All tickets can be purchased at the door on the night of the event or reserved in advance by contacting the Ticket Office on 01 – 453 3371.
