Undefeated prospect Joe Hillerby moves up to eight rounds for the first time in his career tomorrow night in a bid to move a step closer to an Irish title shot
The Belfast super middleweight takes on Aleksandrs Radjuks (3-7-2) in the Emerald Road House tomorrow desperate for win that will open a path to a title challenge.
A potential place in the all Irish Middleweight Prizefighter is another carrot dangling in front ‘The Faith’. An impressive victory could see him clinch one of the remaining three spots on the fight night set for Belfast this May.
However, whilst the Emerald Promotions promoted fighter claims competing in the exciting knock out tournament would be a ‘great opportunity’ he is adamant exclusion won’t prevent him having a good 2012.
“I am moving up a level to an eight rounder. We are looking to push for titles this year. Prizefighter would be a great opportunity for me if it came along, but this is going to be a big year for me regardless,” Hillerby told www.irish-boxing.com
“Training for this fight and this in year in general has been brilliant and I am ready to step it up. All going well an Irish title fight will be next. After that we will just keep pushing forward.”
Another fighter with Irish title aspirations is Gerard Healy. The novice 28 year old pro has one win from his opening three fights. However, having lost to prospects Dee Walsh and Liam ‘Beefy’ Smith the Belfast fighter is confident of a return to winning ways on Saturday’s Emerald Promotions Card.
The Belfast pro clashes with Oleksiy Chukov and told fans to expect a new look Healy.
“Training for this fight has been so good people will see the difference in my performance. I would say considering our record this could be seen as an even fight. I am looking forward to getting back to winning ways. start getting back 2 winning ways on Saturday and with Emerald Promotions behind me I hope to fight for an Irish title over the next year,” Healy told www.irish-boxing.com.
