Game Set and Matchroom-Carroll joins Team Eddie Hearn
THREE months ago he was unknown to even some of the most knowledgeable of boxing fans, but now Jono Carroll is one of only two Irish Matchroom fighters.
The Celtic Warrior Gym puncher has signed a three year contract with the promotion company that has a partnership with Sky Sports.
Carroll, who moves down to super featherweight from lightweight, has been guaranteed five fights a year and has been give the platform to become a prominent name not just in Irish boxing, but across the water over the next few years.
Carroll won a place on Prizefighter when his gamble to fight Declan Geraghty paid off in the 3Arena last November. The 14/1 outside then went on to claim victory in the career changing tournament paving the way to a place on the Matchroom line up.
Victory for Luke Keeler in Prizefighter in Blackpool on February 14 could see him join Matthew Macklin and Carroll on the Matchroom books, increasing the chances of Sky returning to Dublin.
