Frank Warren reveals date for Carl Frampton’s next fight

Carl Frampton‘s next fight date has been confirmed.

The Belfast featherweight’s new promoter, Frank Warren, has revealed that ‘The Jackal’ will return to the ring on Saturday April 7th.

The Queensberry boss mentioned the date during a wide-ranging interview with Behind The Gloves.

Warren said that “we’ve got Carl Frampton boxing on April 7th in Belfast again. That’ll be a burster.”

While he did not explicitly mention the venue, it can be assumed that the fight will take place at the SSE Odyssey Arena.

In terms of who will be the opponent, Filipino four-weight champion Nonito Donaire looks likely to be the man in the opposite corner after heavily hinting yesterday that a deal was done.

The fight will be Frampton’s second under Warren having changed up his team earlier this year.

The 30 year old headlined the Odyssey last month, outpointing Horacio Garcia over ten rounds in his comeback bout and first fight under new trainer Jamie Moore.

The plan now looks to be another solid fight in April, before facing the winner of Lee Selby’s IBF title defence against Josh Warrington. The British pair go head-to-head on May 19th before the victor potentially comes to Belfast for a big world title fight at Windsor park football stadium.
