Fight news for overseas Irish boxers
Irish boxers are going to be very busy overseas over the next few dates.
A number of fighters are in action in both America and England, and news of opponents is starting to trickle in.
This Friday [February 16th] night at the Village Hotel in Bury Dylan Moran [3(2)-0] will kick off a busy few weeks for himself. The Waterford welter fights in a four rounder on this Kieran Farrell show before returning home for an Irish debut on the Last Man Standing card in Dublin.
This weekend ‘The Real Deal’ will fight Hungarian Gergo Vari [21(7)-20(10)-1]. The journeyman was stopped in four last year by Crank Whitehouse and was then due to box Paddy Gallagher before being forced out just hours beforehand due to a failed medical.
New England heavyweight champion Niall Kennedy [10(6)-0] will continue to stay active and build experience next weekend in Connecticut. Just over two months on from his last fight date, the Wexford puncher boxes at the Mohegan Sun Casino on Saturday February 24th.
‘Boom Boom Baz’ is scheduled for eight on the Murphys Boxing card and will face Oklahoma fighter Aaron Chavers 8(3)-3(1)-1, a solid foe keep-busy.
Finally, on Friday March 9th, Aaron McKenna [1(0)-0] will look to continue his quick start to pro life with a four-rounder in California. The Monaghan welterweight, who had a strong debut win over Travis Coole in December, will next box at The Hangar in Los Angeles on a Golden Boy on ESPN card.
McKenna’s opponent will be Mexican Adolfo Caro [0-1(0)]. The Sonoran light welter debuted with a close loss in October.
