Eddie Hearn dismisses Amanda Serrano tantrum

Eddie Hearn has assured Amanda Serrano she will fight Katie Taylor at the agreed weight and within the agreed time frame.

Although she more than likely knew it was coming before she impressed against Heather Hardy last Friday night, Serrano reacted badly to the news that the Irish sensation would move up in weight to challenge for light welterweight honours in Manchester on November 2.

In fact, so upset was the seven-weight, nine belt world champion, that she went as far as to threaten a return to MMA at a point when her boxing stock and value couldn’t be higher.

The three fight deal ‘The Real Deal’ had a massive problem with prior to signing to fight Hardy in a massive all Brooklyn clash was raised again on social media by Serrano.

The Puerto Rican talent suggests her and Taylor meant to trade leather after they both fought twice in that three fight agreement. In that regard Serrano feels she should be Taylor’s next opponent, but the Bray fighter will challenge Christina Linardatou for the WBO 140lbs title instead.

It is Team Taylor’s plan to first become a two weight world champ and the ground breaking star will then move back down for a ‘mega fight’ with Serrano.

That is, unless Serrano heads off to MMA permanently.

Eddie Hearn was one of the first to respond to the tweet – and assured the new WBO featherweight world champion that the fight would happen as planned.

The agreed time frame and the agreed weight won’t be an issue explains the Matchroom boss.

It’s not the first time Serrano has cried foul. Before her second fight in that three fight DAZN deal she threatened to retire. It’s understood there was some form of renegotiation done ahead of the Hardy fight and an increase purse was agreed.
