Darryl Moran – “All the hard training is done”

Darryl Moran believes it will be a cagey affair in his Senior Elite final this Friday.

The reigning Under-22 light flyweight champion is looking to make it two all-Irelands in less than a month and will face Derry veteran Blaine Dobbins in the decider.

Location dictates that the Donegal small man is familiar with his upcoming foe and this familiarity he feels will lead to a tactical bout.

The 49kg clash is one of many where both boxers could win on any given night and where tactics and game plans, rather than a superiority in skill or power, will decide the winner.

Moran spoke to Irish-Boxing.com and explained that “I know Blaine quite well, we have sparred a couple of times before. It will be a cagey fight but whoever performs on the night will come out on top.”

Seeded #1 in a class of just three, the Illies GG fighter begins his campaign at the final stage. Considering his exploits last month however, Moran does not envision a problem and described how “I dont mind that I got the bye, the Under-22 have me set up nicely. I feel great and sharp.”

“There will always be nerves going into any fight but all the hard training is done and hopefully I get the win and book my place as number one,” said the bull-strong Moran.
