CROSSOVER STAR: Tributes pour in for Katie Taylor following World Title win

All eyes were on Ireland’s newest world champion last night.

Bray lightweight Katie Taylor [7(4)-0] claimed the WBA title following an entertaining scrap with Anahi Esther Sanchez, arguably the fight of the night on the Joshua-Takam pay-per-view show at the Principality Stadium in Wales

Already a megastar following her Olympic triumph in 2012, Taylor’s appeal continues to grow and she remains one of few athletes that ‘transcend their sport.’

Beforehand she had been visited in her changing room by Golden Globe-winning actor Colin Farrell, and tributes poured in for the Wicklow boxer afterwards on social media from major names from the worlds of sport, entertainment, and politics.

A Dublin homecoming has to happen soon.
