Cork fighter to face ‘British Boxing Superstar’ on Usyk-Joshua Undercard
Petar Nosic will ensure there is Irish interest on the massive Saturday’s Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk undercard this weekend.
The undefeated Croat fights Olympic silver medal winner Ben Whittaker [1(1)-0] in front of 35,000 at the King Abdullah Sports City.
Nosic, who has three knockouts from six pro wins, will be a name recognisable to Irish fight fans, as he lived in Cork for a period and represented Brian Dillons ABC on the National stage.
The 23-year competed in the National U22s, the Celtic Box Cup and the 2020 National Elites during his spell in Ireland, sharing the ring with the likes of Tony Browne, Tommy Hyde, and the late great Kevin Sheehy along the way. He turned professional upon returning home and has won all six fights since debuting last summer.
He now fights Olympic silver medal winner and fancied British prospect Whittaker on a massive card.
The English fighter debuted just three weeks ago and takes an early step up with the Cork-schooled Croat.
“In the past year, Petar had six matches in professional boxing and achieved six victories. Thanks to his flawless streak, he has the opportunity to box on the biggest boxing scene in the world. We have worked hard until now and we are going into this match fully prepared,” said Nosić’s coach and manager Bosko Mišić.
