Conlan moves into the Commonwealth semi finals
MICHEAL Conlan secured Commonwealth bronze for himself and Team Northern Ireland with victory in Glasgow today.
The 22-year-old gold hopeful beat Bashir Nasir of Uganda to secure his place in the last four of the men’s bantamweight competition.
The Belfast star, who beat the World number 3 in the last round, once again won all three rounds and progressed to the semi final quite comfortably.
The World number 2 now faces Sean McGoldrick of Wales in Wednesdays semi, where he will be hoping to secure a Friday final bert.
Conlan tweeted: “Well guys that’s no.3 down, did what I needed to do and won easy without any damage, box defending champ from Wales on Friday I can’t wait!!”
