While in Belfast meeting potential sponsors, making personal appearances and preparing for a ring return in June, Wayne McCullough decided to make it legal.
Former WBC Bantamweight Champion, Wayne is known around the world as the “Pocket Rocket” and decided to add the ring-name legally to his name.
“Everyone in the boxing world already calls me “Pocket Rocket” so I went ahead and made it official.” He added, “I have been the “Pocket Rocket” since 1988 when I fought in my first Olympic Games. One of my teammates, Kieron Joyce, said I was small enough to fit in his Pocket and I threw punches like a Rocket. So the “Pocket Rocket” was born!!”
Wayne, who has not boxed since March 2003, is in training for his upcoming fight, tentatively scheduled for June.
“I can’t wait to get back into the ring again. It has been a long time coming but I have kept myself fit and I am ready to step back in there. From now on, in and out of the ring, I will always be known officially as “Wayne Pocket Rocket McCullough”!! How cool is that?!?
