Carty looking to eat Gardiner for Breakfast

Young Dublin heavyweight Thomas Carthy is confident of pulling off a shock on Friday night when he takes on reigning champ Dean Gardiner in the Elite super heavyweight final.

Big punching Carty, who wowed fans in attendance last week with a stunning knock-down of Constantin Popovicu, spoke to irish-boxing.com ahead of the final showdown and revealed that he has previous with the Tipperary giant.

“In the last couple of months I’ve after boxing him twice, I boxed him on his own club show on Hallowe’en night and in the final of the Celtic Box Cup.”

“Two very close fights”

The exuberant Glasnevin boxer feels it will be third time luck at the historic venue, noting how “anything can happen in a final”
