Bill topper Meli hoping to fight for titles before the year is out
ALFREDO Meli believes he is on course for a title shot by the end of the year.
Meli, who fights tough journey man Dan Blackwell in the Holiday Inn tonight, isn’t one to look to far ahead, but he feels he is building moment and has started to think about titles.
Indeed, he will be tempted to watch a potential Irish title fight opponent, Luke Keeler, who fights Meli’s last opponent Samet Hyuseinov on the same show.
“I’m going into my seventh fight so I’d like to think I’m at that level and those type of fights will be in the next few steps but I’ll leave that to my promoter,” he explained to Steve Wellings in the Belfast Telegraph.
“Keeler is fighting on this show against (Festim) Lama who I fought last time at the Holiday Inn so it will be interesting to see how he gets on.
“My father and ‘Nugget’ Nugent have been putting me through a hard training camp as usual so I’ll be ready.
“I’d like to be fighting for titles by the end of the year.”
