Belfast Show Down – McComb Closes in on Chamberlain Clash
Sean McComb could be handed an Irish revenge mission and a shot at the IBO title.
According to the boxing grapevine, ‘The Public Nuisance’ is set to fight IBO title holder Mark Chamberlain next.
It’s understood Queensberry are keen to make the fight for Belfast on December 19.
Frank Warren and co see it as an ideal support to Anthony Cacace’s WBA world title defence against Nick Ball.
Chamberlain is well known to Irish fight fans, having defeated Pierce O’Leary in Dublin in August.
The Dubliner has a rematch clause but is more likely to appear against a different opponent on December 19 and then fight the winner of Chamberlain McComb in the Spring of next year.
Chamberlain represents the kind of fight McComb has been calling for but struggling to get since he was controversially defeated by Arnold Barboza Jr.
The Belfast fighter has also previously called for an O’Leary fight, stating: “If they had put me and Pierce on a card, it would’ve been a complete sell-out. The Irish boxing fans want it. Everybody wants it.”
