‘Give Me a Call’ – Caoimhin Agyrako EYES UP Conor Benn CLASH
Caoimhin Agyarko is more than happy to meet Conor Benn at middleweight.
The British star stepped into world title action for the first time on Saturday night but suffered defeat in a high-profile clash,
‘The Destroyer’ was stopped by Ryan Garcia in the second round of a welterweight world title fight.
Among the fallout noise are middleweight whispers, with suggestions the Essex native is eyeing a move to 160lbs.
If the 29-year-old, who was linked heavily to Lewis Crocker earlier this year, does move back up the scales, Agyarko is happy to offer opposition.
“I heard he’s moving up to middleweight. If he’s game, he can give me a call anytime,” Agyarko told Irish-boxing.com.
“I’d fight him in a heartbeat.”
Benn’s second career defeat came in his first fight at genuine world level, with many suggesting he’s chances of upsetting the American were harmed by the fact he had skipped many rungs on the ladder.
Recent world title challenger Agyarko agrees.
“There’s levels in boxing and you can’t skip levels,” he adds.
Agyarko’s most recent fight was also a world title fight, but his IBF challenge to Josh Kelly was more competitive than Benn’s to Garcia. The Belfast fighter lost by a 114-113,115-112, 115-112 scorecard. Speaking after ‘Black Thunder’ promised to one day buckle a world title strap around his waist.
“I’ll be back and I promise I will be world champion.”
