Bee Gee tournament quarter final draw

London 2012 Olympian Adam Nolan will get Ireland’s campaign at the 34th Gee Bee multi-nations underway in Helsinki, Finland this morning.

The current Irish welterweight champion meets Spain’s Sissokho Youba in the quarter-finals, which begins at 11am (Irish time).

Kurt Walker and Conor Coyle will be between the ropes for last-eight bouts against Italy and England in the evening session in the Finnish capital today. Boxing begins at 4pm (Irish time).

Brendan Irvine, Myles Casey and George Bates have received byes into Saturday’s semi-finals.

There are four boxers – Ireland, Bulgaria, Russia and Spain – in Irvine’s class and four boxers – Ireland, England, Kazakhstan and Spain – in Casey’s class.

Describing today’s draw as reasonable, Irish team manager Peter Donnelly explained that there are six boxers in the 69kg and 75kg classes and they have been divided into two groups – A and B.
