A whirlwind that could derail Carl Frampton‘s mega fight future plans is coming to Belfast next monyh warns Barry McGuigan.

Andres Gutierrez [35(25)-1(0)-1] may not be the high profile name Cyclone Promotions had initially hoped to announce as ‘The Jackal’s’ homecoming opponent, but Irish fight legend McGuigan suggests the Mexican could prove just as tough a prospect as some of the big names fans bandied about earlier in the Summer.

The Cyclone CEO has billed the 23 year old with 25 knockouts to his name as an aggressive, come forward, big punching threat that will play his part in an exciting July 29th fight.

“I am very much looking forward to this fight, we wanted Carl to have a tough test and we certainly got that in Andres Gutierrez.”

“This guy is a nonsense attacking fighter with a tremendous punch. He is just a whirlwind that never leaves you alone,” said McGuigan at today’s press conference to announce the fight.

Indeed the Clones Cyclone believes that Gutierrez is an opponent that will be perfect foe for both Jackal and Jackal Army.

The Monaghan man outlined how “Carl needed an opponent like that to get him back to his sharp best and we certainly believe that is going to happen.”

“The fans are going to be really excited about this fight because it will be action packed from start to finish.”

“No one wants to fight him. He is a big strong attacking fighter, but we wanted people to see Carl at his best and he is at his best when people are coming to get him. So it will be a riveting fight on July 29th.”

While Frampton [23(14)-1(0)] returns against the Canelo Promotions boxer after two and a half years on the road, Cyclone return to the current capital of Irish boxing for the first time since they promoted Conrad Cummings versus Alfredo Meli in November of 2015 and McGuigan is excited to be back with another strong card.

“It’s great to be back in Belfast and it’s great to see so many people here [at the press conference] and we are going to have a bumper card as well. I look forward to the night itself, it’s going to be spectacular.”
