Andy Lee backs ‘Animal’ Ryan Burnett to win World title soon
Andy Lee has backed his stable mate Ryan Burnett to win a World title in the near future.
Burnett’s promoter, Matchroom’s Eddie Hearn, plans for the Belfast bantamweight to have three more fights before a World title challenge in his home city in early 2017.
The first of these three fights will be on Saturday night in Leeds on the Josh Warrington v Patrick Hyland undercard where he will face Mexican Cesar Ramirez [12(6)-2(1)].
The former WBO middleweight champ agreed with Hearn’s prediction and told Irish-Boxing.com that “I think it’s probably the right timeframe, the right course for him.”
“I think in three fight, four fights, against the right opponents, he’ll be ready for anyone in the World.”
Complimenting his fellow Adam Booth-trained fighter, Lee explained that “the only thing he lacks is experience.”
“He has all the tools.”
“Physically, technically, fitness-wise, conditioning-wise, he’s there.”
“He just needs the experience and not to be rushed.”
“He trains like an animal, he trains like a man possessed, he’s very dedicated young man.”
