Two-Time World Champion – Clear Goal for Comeback Kid Lewis Crocker

Lewis Crocker has set himself a two-time world champion target.

The Belfast boxer lost his IBF welterweight world title in June when he suffered defeat to Liam Paro in Queensland, Australia.

The 29-year-old makes his return in Belfast on December 19 when he fights Owen Cooper on the Cacace-Ball card and comes back refusing to dwell on the Down Under disappointment.

Crocker insists his focus has already shifted towards the future and emulating his fellow Holy Trinity graduates ‘ two-time world champion achievement.

“Look, it’s one of them ones that I’ve got to take from experience, you know what I mean? And that was a tight fight. You know what, it could have gone either way, but listen, get on with it, move on, and I want my next step to be two-time world champion,” he told Irish-boxing.com.

His immediate task is Owen Cooper, an opponent he’d be fancied to beat but a tough enough return nonetheless.

“I’d never turn down a fight. That was the fight that was brought to me, and that’s the fight that’s happening,” he adds before looking forward to bigger and better things.

“I’m not looking past the one, but looking for next year, it’d be great to fight at the Windson Park again, fight for a world title again, and get the biggest names in the division.”

It is an ambitious programme, but the Sandyrow native has been linked with some massive names, including Conor Benn and all time great Manny Pacquiao.

Crocker also revealed that a potential rematch with Conah Walker remains an interesting possibility.

“We agreed the fight with Conah for my first defence of the world title, but then when Paddy Donovan pulled out, Paro became the mandatory, you know what I mean? So we’d already agreed that fight. Listen, there’s plenty of fights out there, so obviously, whatever plays out.”

For now, however, the priority is straightforward: return to the ring, deliver a statement performance and begin building towards another world-title opportunity.
