Carl Frampton: Two More Wins Could Make Anthony Cacace Ireland’s GREATEST-Ever Boxer

Anthony Cacace is two wins away from becoming Ireland’s greatest-ever boxer, according to Carl Frampton.

Cacace has risen to real prominence late in his career, sandwiching wins over former world champion Leigh Wood and Josh Warrington with world title victories over Joe Cordina and Jazza Dickens.

‘The Apache’ fights his fifth successive world champion and fifth successive Brit when he defends his WBA super featherweight world title against Nick Ball in Belfast in December.

Win that and there is talk of the 37-year-old possibly stepping into an undisputed fight or a bout with an all-time great.

Cacace’s Indian Summer could get seriously hotter if proposed clashes with either Vasiliy Lomachenko or the winner of the three-belt unification clash between Emanuel Navarrete and O’Shaquie Foster.

Fellow Belfast man, fellow Irish boxing great and number one Cacace fan, Carl Frampton says the position his former Cyclone stablemate finds himself in is nothing short of sensational – and goes as far as to suggest if the Holy Family affiliated natural talent was to beat Ball and proceed to add any of Lomachenko, Foster or Navarrete to his record, he would have to go down as Ireland’s greatest.

“It’s an inspirational story,” Frampton said while on Media duties for DAZN at a press conference to officially launch the December bill.

“It should be told in schools. Things are happening for Anto when they shouldn’t be happening. This is the stage when his career should be wrapping up but he’s beating big names and winning world titles.

“He’s continuing to fight, and there is talk of some huge fights. Obviously, he has a dangerous fight against Nick Ball, but I am hearing rumours of Lomachenko as possibly the next opponent, and I’m hearing rumours of Navarrete and Foster.

“If he beats Nick Ball and then beats any of those fighters in his next fight, I think he becomes Ireland’s greatest ever fighter. I genuinely believe that. Look at the names on his record; it’s incredible.”
