Irish star to sign with Eddie Hearn?

The boxing rumour mill is awash with talk that Matchroom Promotions will tomorrow confirm the signing of one of Irish boxing’s hottest prospects.

Hearn today revealed that he will be announcing a new addition to his stable at the Chris Eubank-Tony Jeter show on Sky tomorrow evening – and many in-the-know believe that it will be Belfast bantamweight sensation Ryan Burnett.

In fact, the former Youth Olympic gold medalist all-but-confirmed Hearn’s impending news on social media:

Burnett recently impressed in Texas where he helped Sky star Jamie McDonnell prepare for his successful rematch with Tomoki Kameda.

This month the Adam Booth-trained fighter won the WBO European title with a two round destruction of Robert Kanalas in Manchester, improving his unbeaten record to 11(9)-0.

If Burnett is to sign with Hearn it raises questions over his upcoming British title fight with Jason Booth on November 23rd in London which is due to be promoted by Frank Warren.

Additionally, the potential signing would be exciting news for both Belfast boxing and local fighters with the prospect of a return of big Sky shows to the Titanic city.
