Winky joins Odyssey adventure

Luke Wilton has become the second Belfast fighter to be confirmed on the Odyssey Arena September 10 bill.
The flyweight prospect joins fellow Belfast pro Carl Frampton on  what is already promising to be a appetising fight menu and is hoping to impress on the under card of Paul McCloskey’s WBA world title eliminator with Breidis Prescott.
‘Winky’ will fight a yet to be named opponent, but hopes victory on such a prestigious card will lead to bigger fights.
“I train for every fight like its my biggest fight of my career, hopefully winning on this show it can open up doors for me.
I haven’t heard of an opponent yet. I just know it is a six rounder. I am excited about being on this card but I fought in the Odyssey twice before so I know what to expect,” Wilton told www.irish-boxing.com.
Wilton has been linked with a British title shot for well over a year now, but claims he might have to wait until the New Year before he gets a shot at British domestic level.
“ I haven’t heard anything more of the British title shot. Edwards and Bayaar have to fight for the belt before Christmas so we will see after that.”
