Egan faces the fight of his life
August 2 Paddy Power Press release
Paddy Power was in Kenny Egan’s corner today to announce a new sponsorship deal with the Olympic Silver medallist ahead of his crucial box-off with current champion Joe Ward next week.
The ten-time senior champion will face the fight of his life next Wednesday when he meets Moate man Joe for the second time in a bout which will ultimately decide the pairs’ Olympic future.
Paddy Power can hardly split the pair. The odds on Clondalkin southpaw Kenny Egan winning back the title he lost in February are 6/4 while seventeen year old Joe is 1/2 to hold on to the senior title he snatched earlier in the year and follow his dream to the London games in 2012.
Paddy Power said: “This was one fight our odds compilers were dreading pricing because it really is impossible to call. There’s no doubt about it young Joe is strong and has a bright future but Kenny will be looking to rectify some mistakes that were made back in February. We’re expecting this one to go to the wire.”
