WATCH: Eric Donovan Knockout

Eric Donovan [3(2)-0] had a short night’s work on Saturday.

The Kildare super feather had been due to take on Rafael Castillo in a step up in his first six rounder on the Red Corner ‘Unfinished Business’ bill.

Unfortunately, visa issues would scupper this fight and a last-minute replacement was found in Stefan Nicolae.

The Romanian, formerly a decent opponent, was actually quite competent, however Donovan’s bodyshots, and an understandable lack of preparation, saw him flattened in the second round.

Indeed Donovan’s stinging combos had Nicolae wincing for an extended period following the stoppage, and the Eastern European was doubled over during the announcement of the result.
