ANDY Lee’s WBO World title fight with Billy Joe Saunders could take place on September 5.
At a press conference on Monday afternoon to announce Celtic Warrior Gym fighter Frank Buglioni’s July 4 World title fight promoter Frank Warren suggested the September 5 date has been proposed.
Warren also revealed his boxer, Saunders will take a keep busy July 24 Wembley bout before challenging the Limerick man for World honours.
Saunder’s has mandatory for Lee’s strap since the southpaw claimed it with victory over Matt Korobov in December, but stepped aside to allow the former Olympian fight Peter Quillin in America.
A summer date was then proposed, but a shoulder injury enabled Lee to postpone his defence until the Autumn,
Warren has now proposed a September 5 date and is in talks with Adam Booth about agreeing the finer details.
However, there is no confirmation of the September 5 title defence from the Lee camp or the WBO.
